Wellness Wednesday: Healthy Links

Today I want to start a new weekly feature I've been thinking about for some time now, Wellness Wednesday. While Workplace Wednesday will still appear from time to time, I also want to begin sharing more fitness/health/wellness topics on here since it's such a big part of my life. It also helps that this week is

National Women's Health Week

. So today I wanted to share some of my favorite websites or healthy links that I go to for nutrition and fitness tips and such. Enjoy :)

Tone It Up

I'm sure if you've been reading my blog for a while now, you have seen me talk endlessly about the girls from

Tone It Up

. I love the community Katrina and Karena have built and they are always so sweet to us girls. I also am in love with the free workouts they offer via their YouTube videos as well as the yummy recipes. I'm currently doing my second year of their Bikini Series and loving it.

I love Cassey Ho. She is always so perky and funny. But don't be fooled, she provides some tough workouts. I love her website not only because of the workouts but also for the monthly calendars she provides in which she puts together workouts to complete for each day of that month. The calendars are usually themed such as April Abs of AhMayZing (May). And again, the workouts are free. Score!

Sarah Fit

Sarah Dessault is another girl who's site I love following. Like the other two above, she is a YouTuber and provides many workouts for free, as well as recipes. Some of my favorite workouts that she does are those aimed at college student. As someone who struggled with fitness during college herself, it is great to see videos targeted for those living the college life.

Food Babe

So I have recently started going to this site and so far I've been loving it. While I am not quite at the extreme Vani is in terms of GMO labeling and such, I do love how informative her site is about what's really in her food. In a time where it seems processed food is as prevalent as ever despite many people embracing the organic lifestyle, it's refreshing that someone such as Vani is so passionate about investigating what's really in our food and fighting for GMO labeling and such. Again, I follow her investigations with a grain of rice because I realized it's harder said than done to stop eating Taco Bell or Subway or food with bad chemicals, I still love reading on her fight for nutrition.

Simply Green Smoothies

Last but not least, there's this site. It is run by best friends Jen and Jadah and if you can't already tell it features smoothies. I love the site because it's full of yummy recipes for awesome smoothies, which I just happen to be obsessed with. I especially love their 30 day challenges. During the challenges, they send you weekly emails with recipes and shopping lists and often feature an ingredient for that week.

I hope you liked my healthy links. What are some of your favorite health/fitness sites?

Let me know in the comments below, I'm always excited to find new wellness related sites.

I also hope these links helped if you were looking for some direction as to what sites to check out.

Thoughts on Thursday: Things to do in 30 Minutes {or less}

So I know this post may be coming a little after Thursday, but that's because I originally had planned on a totally different weekly feature/post for Thursday, but we will save that one for next week.

Anyway, I wanted to start doing this feature, although like most weekly features, they will vary from time to time and I won't always stick to the weekly feature, it is just something to keep me on track. So for today, I wanted to do "Thoughts on Thursday" and just share things I think of throughout the week or things I'd like to share. For this week, I wanted to do things you can do in 30 minutes.
So here are 5 things you can do in 30 minutes{or less}:

{Source: Toneitup.com}

1. Workouts- Recently I have been doing the 21 day fix (a BeachBody Program) and each workout is 30 minutes, which has been helpful with my crazy class schedule. But you don't need to buy a fancy program to do a workout that is 30 minutes or under. Youtube has plenty of free workout videos such as this one from ToneItUp.com or this one from Blogilates. You can also buy affordable videos at Target or Walmart for $5 or swap some with friends.

2. Read a chapter or two from a book- This is especially great if you have a small break in between classes and you just want to relax (and finally read the book that's been sitting on your nightstand). You can also do this to help you unwind before bed or if you are waiting at an appointment.

3. Put on a face mask- This one is fun because you can pamper yourself while getting other stuff done like getting caught up on your DVR or cleaning your room. Some masks say to leave them on for as little as 10 minutes to as much as half an hour. I usually leave mine on until I feel it hardens as much as it can or begins to flake. I love the one's from Lush.

4. Talking about cleaning your room, why not take 10 to 30 minutes each day to clean your room. I find that when I do this, I actually keep my room clean longer than when I don't. It also means I actually take less time to clean up over all.

5. Meditate- Seriously! 30 minutes can be the perfect "me" time to reflect on how you feel and tune in to how you are doing that day. This is something I am working on. Life can get overwhelming so to take time to just let go of everything on your mind, that's bliss. It's similar to the whole taking time to read, but this actually helps you get in tune with yourself, not really escape. It also helps clear your mind for better thinking later on.

I hope you enjoyed this little post. Let me know if you think these are doable in 30 minutes or less and if you can think of other things to do in 30 minutes or less.

Love,
Astrid
