I am sure I am not alone in making one of my resolutions every year be to eat/be healthier. It is probably one of the top resolutions everyone makes every time New Years' comes around. Now chances are you may have heard of Matcha (it was all the craze a few years ago too). Even so, you may still be wondering what is it exactly.  In the simplest terms, it is a powdered form of green tea. It comes with the benefits of green tea, but since it is a more concentrated form, there are even more benefits to it, so they say.

The benefits include help in boosting energy and concentration as well as boosting your metabolism to help support weight loss. It also has 137x's the antioxidant of regular brewed green tea. Because it is a powder, it makes it easy to use in lattes, baking (yes, baking!) and my personal favorite, post-workout smoothies!

 As a tea lover, I do like enjoying it as tea, but I LOVE adding it to my smoothies! I just put some almond milk, a banana, some vanilla protein powder and then a teaspoon of Matcha powder in a blender, blend and voilá, pure healthy yumminess! I like enjoying it in one of my many mason jars (cuz it makes a lot LOL) and add this cute green straw that my friend sent me.

Now, like I mentioned before, I've had Matcha lattes before, but the thing with Matcha is that it can tend to taste bitter. I'm not sure what brand the local coffeehouses use, but I get weary of them at times because sometimes they add too much or don't blend it well, or maybe it's the kind they are using, but I end up with a really strong (read bitter) Matcha latte. Luckily,

doesn't give me this issue. In fact, I can honestly say it is one of the better ones I've tasted, even in a regular Matcha tea.

I Became a BeachBody Coach!!

So if you follow me on Instagram or even on Tumblr or Twitter you might have figured out that I like to stay pretty healthy and fit. You may also have figured out that I've been doing the 21 day fix challenge that is sold through BeachBody. If you don't know what BeachBody is, it is the company that sells P90x, Insanity, and the Brazilian Butt Lift among other popular fitness programs. Today (Sunday) counts as my last day on the fix. Now while the fix may be over, I will most likely keep following it, just not so strictly since I'm at my goal weight. I love that the focus has been on portion control and hasn't been overly restrictive. Also love that due to it, my abs are coming in :)

Anyway, during the fix I not only got re-motivated to focus on my nutrition and fitness after my return from New York, but also seriously started thinking about becoming a BeachBody coach. I had been approached about a year ago while doing Tone It Up's Love Your Body Challenge by another fellow TIU member about becoming a coach, but at the time I wasn't ready and was also kind of skeptical about the whole thing since not too long before that, someone tried to get me to sign up for what I later learned was a Ponzi Scheme. Anyway, even though I decided not to sign up to be a coach, I still continued to be friends with her and also made friends with other BeachBody coaches. This allowed me to be part of challenge groups that kept me accountable as well as motivated.

Then finally, over the course of the fix I started really thinking of becoming a coach myself. I had gotten to a point in my life where I felt good about myself, I was regaining my confidence with my fitness goals and I saw that I was also motivating others around me. Well I took the plunge this weekend after much thought and also because I had been offered a discount on Shakeology which could only be obtained if I signed up as a coach. So that was it! And now I am so excited that I am a part of Team Beachbody. My goal with this is to continue my fitness journey and also to help motivate others on their own fitness journeys.

How I've Gotten Fit

`So I know I've dropped sprinkles of Tone It Up here and there. Well just briefly wanted to talk about my fitness journey since I've mentioned it here and there but have not truly gotten into specifics. I have always been pretty thin (think barely reaching 100 lbs) my whole life, but not very athletic.But as much as I've been blessed with a fast metabolism, once college and my boyfriend entered my life, I was not exempt from gaining some of the "Freshmand 15". I was eating out a lot due to my boyfriend (he likes burgers and pasta, A LOT) and due to being at school and work most days. I would not prep lunches or anything so that was my bad.

Well after a brief break-up with my boyfriend (no worries we are back together :) ) towards the end of last year, I decided that I needed to put some effort into loving myself a bit. I started a week before New Years' following a workout from Fitness Magazine and then went on Instagram to look for fitspo. While on the popular page, I saw a post about Tone It Up 's "Love Your Body Challenge." Now their name sounded familiar because Elle Fowler, a YouTube beauty guru had mentioned them in one of her videos I'd seen a few years back. So anyway, I decided to loo further into the challenge, found out some prizes included Victoria Secret Swag, and signed up.

The challenge started January 1st, 2013. The girls would post weekly workout schedules and had mini challenges along the way and I followed their instructions, to the best of my ability. As the challenge went on I started to love running, something I use to hate with a passion. Sadly towards the end, as I was improving my endurance, my hip flexor and knee and shin on my left side began to give out so I'm still healing. While I didn't win any prizes per se, I did gain confidence and became the most active I've been since high school. What's even better is they set up a community for members and I've gotten to cross paths and be inspired by so many girls after the same goal: "to have a great body, but most importantly to be healthy".

Now it's been about 8 months since I really incorporated fitness and a healthy lifestyle into my everyday life and I will never look back. I still have a ways to go and currently I'm doing P90X (lean) along with some other girls from the community, but I am slowly starting to see some ab muscle showing through. I also feel stronger and my skin is no longer as acne prone as before. Honestly it has been one of the best decisions I've made in a long time and hope to continue it until I'm six feet under!! LOL
